I could not imagine any other politician in the World doing this anywhere. Some are comparing it to PM’s Question Time, but that is a short largely scripted event. This was not.

For Prime Minister’s Question Time to get anywhere near this, the whole of the Labour Party would have to leave Parliament, the procedural questions would have to go and the event would have to be twice as long.

This event killed the TOTUS meme Republicans were pushing. Notice the lack of one.

This was the House Republican Party 140 to 1 against the President.

It is highly unlikely that you will ever see the like of this again.

This is political debating at its finest, great television too so far removed from the scripted talking points of the prepared format Presidential debates that they do not even compare and the Republicans handed it to Barack Obama on a silver platter.

As far as must see tv, that is unlikely to ever be repeated, for any student of politics this is up there with the moon landing.

Boots is a large, mainly pharmacy chain in the United Kingdom.

It employs 75,000 people in stores throughout the United Kingdom. A great proportion of those make very little above minimum wage. Of the 75,000 employed, 15,000 are in the Final Salary Pensions Scheme.

As a result of a relatively static stock market from 2000 and various tax changes many Pension funds in the UK fell in to the red. In response, Companies closed these schemes to new employees. The pension you would get would depend heavily on the value of the stock exchange. Boots closed theirs in 2000, 20% of the workforce as it now stands remain in that final salary scheme. They were loyal employees to the Company.

Alliance Boots was bought by private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) and Stefano Pessina, now executive chairman, for £11bn in June 2007, in the biggest ever leveraged buyout in Europe.

The first announcement of their new boss was to announce the end of the final salary scheme and complete transfer of all those long term staff to investment fund pensions. Many will have no ability to develop a decent pension in the few years they have available before retirement.

This they argue is to provide better motivate staff.

Their new boss is a former Halifax Bank of Scotland fat cat Andy Hornby. The 43-year-old lost his job after the bank’s disastrous takeover by Lloyds but had already built up a £240,000-a-year pension.

The pension fund is £188 million in surplus. Despite the recession, trading profit climbed 11.6% to £953m, as at May 2009 but a large chunk of that was absorbed by finance costs of £705m, on sales of £20 billion.

What a great thank you to staff for years of loyalty.

8. What were your reasons for ignoring the United Nations when you had previously seen their support as critical?

9. Do you still stand by the speech you made to the US Congress, which helped sell the war to America?

10. The Government is now withholding crucial papers from this Inquiry, do you support that?

I do not hold my breath waiting for the tough questions or for honest replies from Blair. I’d also love a follow up to ask is the World really safer as a result of this War?

What is it with Republicans and their supporters, they just can not help themselves with their criminal antics.

Alleging a plot to tamper with phones in Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office in the Hale Boggs Federal Building in downtown New Orleans, the FBI arrested four people Monday, including James O’Keefe, 25, a conservative filmmaker whose undercover videos at ACORN field offices severely damaged the advocacy group’s credibility.

Also arrested were Joseph Basel, Stan Dai and Robert Flanagan, all 24. Flanagan is the son of William Flanagan, who is the acting U.S. attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. All four men were charged with entering federal property under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony.

An official close to the investigation said one of the four was arrested with a listening device in a car blocks from the senator’s offices. He spoke on condition of anonymity because that information was not included in official arresting documents.

According to the FBI affidavit, Flanagan and Basel entered the federal building at 500 Poydras Street on Monday about 11 a.m., dressed as telephone company employees, wearing jeans, fluorescent green vests, tool belts and hard hats. When they arrived at Landrieu’s 10th-floor office, O’Keefe was already in the office and had told a staffer he was waiting for someone to arrive.
When Flanagan and Basel entered the office, they told the staffer they were there to fix phone problems. At that time, the staffer, referred to only as Witness 1 in the affidavit, observed O’Keefe positioning his cell phone in his hand to videotape the operation. O’Keefe later admitted to agents that he recorded the event.

If this was an Acorn employee doing this to a Republican the Senate would be up in arms.

Limbaugh’s Chicago babes would be calling for an investigation in to me, this blog and the Whitehouse (again).

Fox just says it needs “context”. It needs more than context.  Who actually was involved? How high did this go?

Maybe we can expect to see O’Keefe with an American flag draped around his crotch when he is 60.

I must say that the thing I absolutely find so completely laughable is how many Republicans are falling for this crap. I actually have to say – well done to Kevin, keep up the good work. Keep getting stupid Republicans to give you lots of money to chase ghosts.

The site administrator is not a gay man at all. The site administrator is a woman. They have been spreading muck about a Republican Governor and two members of Congress. Basically “outing” them by spreading gossip. Even though there is no evidence or truth to the very rumours that they are spreading themselves and accusing others of spreading it. One of those stories is based on that Congress member sharing a house with another male member of Congress. So this would by their logic out them as not exactly “gay democrats for McCain”. Now that logic is of course flawed, I have shared houses with women, it does not make me less gay.

So who exactly are Hillbuzz? Maybe they need to come out? Then we can will see how quickly REPUBLICAN lawyers and not “scary Liberals” will react to their scurrilous attacks on Chicago Republicans.

Certainly Republicans should look a lot closer at why this site, given its recorded ownership, a site that is praised to the hilt by Rush Limbaugh and spreading viscous gossip against Republicans and not just Democratic candidates. Instead of pleading and anger, they should perhaps ask themselves what do the Limbaugh’s “Chicago babes” really stand for? You can not claim to support Hillary Clinton and then want to “remove all Liberals from the US like snakes from Ireland”.
