Republican from Mississippi wants homophobes in the Army to have a “conscience clause”.

May 10, 2011 3 comments
A bigot who recently claimed to celebrate “Military Spouse Appreciation Day” wants his fellow Tea Party Terrorists to pass an amendment to the Defense Authorisation Bill that would require the US Armed Forces to issue new “conscience” protections for service members who hate gays, because standing next to a gay man is worse than getting shot at to most Republicans (when in public). The amendment states:

The sincerely held religious or moral beliefs of a member of the Armed Forces that homosexual or bisexual conduct is immoral and/or an inappropriate expression of human sexuality according to the tenets of the member’s faith community shall be accommodated…. The Secretary of Defense shall issue regulations setting forth guidance to insure that the sincerely held religious or moral beliefs of members of the Armed Forces regarding homosexual or bisexual conduct are protected, accommodated…

Congress would be required to enforce that this conscience clause is enforced.

The political wing of the Tea Party Terrorists, formerly known as the GOP or the KKK claims that extending equal rights to gay and lesbian people by allowing them to serve openly in the armed forces or enter into recognised relationships victimises bigots.

When asked about the Tea Party Terrorist started talking about tax cuts, while holding a kid and touching his balls.

Vukmir had no primary opposition. In the November 2, 2010 general election, she defeated Democratic incumbent Jim Sullivan.

Vukmir has been a speaker at several Wisconsin Tea Parties. One of her key issues is combined reporting, which requires companies based in Wisconsin to pay taxes on assets located in other states. Vukmir argues combined reporting is a big reason Harley Davidson laid off 400 workers in 2010 and Polaris announced it would be leaving Wisconsin. Vukmir wanted a special session to repeal the tax, but the legislature did not move on it. [2][3] [4][5]

Candidates Votes Percent
Leah Vukmir (R) 36,852 52.15%
Jim Sullivan (D) 33,702 47.69%

Supposedly the Tea Party Terrorist vote share in April 2011 after all the negative publicity is now 75%.

GOP Answer For The Disabled? Ship ‘em To Russia

Martin Harty - soon to be one of the people he wants shipped off to Russia.

Okay, next time maybe you’ll actually go out and vote. Because this is what happens when Democrats get complacent and stay home for the midterms. “Let’s just cross our fingers and hope for the best. After all, we got Obama into office, now we can take a break for 4 years, right?”
A New Hampshire state house Republican freshman resigned Monday after he suggested to Sharon Omand, a manager of a community mental health program and a constituent, that the mentally disabled be shipped off to Russia.

“It was a girl that (sic)wanted money for the crazy people, the people … a good percentage of the homeless people are mentally disturbed.” ~ Republican Martin Harty

He claimed, afterward, that he was “joking”. And maybe he was, but in light of fact that the state’s GOP is proposing huge budget cuts that greatly defund programs for the disabled, one has to wonder.

Harty told Omand, that “the world is too populated” and that there are “too many defective people.” When asked what he meant, she said Harty clarified, “You know the mentally ill, the retarded, people with physical disabilities and drug addictions –the defective people society would be better off without.”

There’s a pattern here folks; pay attention. It is always the people with the smallest voice, who are most in need of our community support, that Republicans attack. And why? Because someone has to pay for the loss of revenue caused by the loss of tax cuts for those with strongest voice in government – corporations and the wealthy. And because they are not as smart as they think they are -are, in fact, unable to see a day passed their own self-interest – they don’t even realize that their policies, in the long run, slit their own economic wrists along with the rest of ours’. Taking spending power away from the consuming class topples their cherished free market system from within.

Now Tea Party Republicans want to kill women who have a miscarriage.

Dick Head Tea Party Terrorist

The political wing of the Tea Party Terrorists is yet again turning its attention to the right of women to choose. Supposedly against big government, they can not help themselves wanting their bath tub government to expand in to the private lives of individuals.

Georgia State Rep. Bobby Franklin has proposed a bill that would treat abortion as murder and if a woman miscarries, while not in the presence of a Doctor, she would be investigated for murder at one of her most harrowing times in her life.

A woman would have to prove that if she had taken a sleeping pill or if she had consumed a glass of wine that neither of those things caused her to have the miscarriage. If drinking a glass of wine caused a miscarriage she would face the death penalty.

So a foetus must be saved at all cost, a distraught would have been mother, well her life is worthless.

The reaction of other Tea Party Republicans to this is to attack Franklin, not for the bill itself but for the timing. They agree with him but they want these things left until after the Presidential election.

I wonder why.

Call me a whaambulance. Bonehead proves he is worried that DOMA will reveal GOP bigotry

Attorney General, Eric Holder, today declared that the US government will no longer defend Section 3 of DOMA in court.

Eric Holder issued this statement

After careful consideration, including a review of my recommendation, the President has concluded that given a number of factors, including a documented history of discrimination, classifications based on sexual orientation should be subject to a more heightened standard of scrutiny. The President has also concluded that Section 3 of DOMA, as applied to legally married same-sex couples, fails to meet that standard and is therefore unconstitutional. Given that conclusion, the President has instructed the Department not to defend the statute in such cases. I fully concur with the President’s determination.

Consequently, the Department will not defend the constitutionality of Section 3 of DOMA as applied to same-sex married couples in the two cases filed in the Second Circuit. We will, however, remain parties to the cases and continue to represent the interests of the United States throughout the litigation. I have informed Members of Congress of this decision, so Members who wish to defend the statute may pursue that option. The Department will also work closely with the courts to ensure that Congress has a full and fair opportunity to participate in pending litigation.

Furthermore, pursuant to the President’s instructions, and upon further notification to Congress, I will instruct Department attorneys to advise courts in other pending DOMA litigation of the President’s and my conclusions that a heightened standard should apply, that Section 3 is unconstitutional under that standard and that the Department will cease defense of Section 3.

John Boehner’s spokesman issued this terse statement in response: “While Americans want Washington to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, the President will have to explain why he thinks now is the appropriate time to stir up a controversial issue that sharply divides the nation.

Of course to a Republicant, abortion is not an issue that divides the United States, re-defining rape is not a divisive issue, scraaping the health care reform is not a divisive issue, nor are vouchers for private schools and the de-funding of Planned Parenthood. To the Republicant Leadership these are issues that are far more pressing than the budget deficit (which according to their plan will take 50 years to end) and restoring jobs for Americans.

He is not worried about how this splits the US, he is worried about how it splits his Party, it will give a new voice to the bigots and then the super-bigots. Not something he would have wanted to happen in the run up to Republican Primaries for the 2012 Presidential election.

What a very very straight Ivory Tower Republicants live in.

Only 26% Of Americans Want Tax Cut Extensions For Wealthy

December 5, 2010 2 comments

I think it’s important to know just how hard our elected officials are working, and maybe more importantly, just for whom they are working so hard.

A recent survey conducted by CBS News indicates that only 26% of American adults want to extend the Bush tax cuts for those families making over $250K yearly. This is the most recent poll, and previous polls showed the percentage wanting to extend the tax cuts for all to be higher than 26%, but never more than 40%, and always below that percentage wishing to let them expire for the rich.
But let us not be deceived – $250K is not, in practice, actually $250K. That is the dollar amount only for those taking the standard deductions. The reality is that very few people making that much money file a 1040EZ. Most people in this category itemize, deducting mortgage interest, state and local taxes, business expenses and many other possible deductions and tax credits. Therefore, families making well in excess of $300,000 would not see a tax increase at all. According to the Tax Policy Center, only about 2% of American households would end up paying higher tax rates in the event they expired only for the wealthy. And only 3% of businesses would be affected, with many of these not what most people think of as a “small business” in either scope or size.
Besides, as if the Reagan and Bush the Lesser Recessions were not proof enough, statistic prove that the wealthy do not “reinvest” these tax savings back into the economy – they hoard it. Look at it this way: if you were to inherit $25,000 from a rich and benevolent relative, you’d probably spend almost every penny of it by paying debts, upgrading your car, sending your kids to college, donating to your church, etc., etc. However, if a multi-millionaire were to inherit the same $25,000, it would most likely go into his investment portfolio. It is a fact that the working class spend a much higher percentage of their income than the wealthy.

Though the official numbers won’t be out for a while yet, we do know that the number of registered Democrats who voted last month was markedly less than the number of registered Republicans that voted. I simply continue to wonder how long it will take for those working-class Republican voters to realize for whom their candidates are working so hard.

Top Republican – Noah will save us from global warming.

John Shimkus - God Bothering Bible Bashing Republican

Meet John Shimkus, a man who want to be Chair of the House Energy and Environment Sub-Committee once the Republicans take control of the House of Representatives in January.

He believes that global warming is not an issue because God promised Noah it will all be ok.

In 2009 he told the Committee ‘As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, will never cease.’

As the Daily Mail reports;

The Illinois Republican continued: ‘I believe that is the infallible word of God, and that’s the way it is going to be for his creation.

‘The earth will end only when God declares its time to be over. Man will not destroy this earth. This earth will not be destroyed by a flood.

He added: ‘Today we have about 388 parts per million in the atmosphere. I think in the age of dinosaurs, when we had the most flora and fauna, we were probably at 4,000 parts per million. There is a theological debate that this is a carbon-starved planet — not too much carbon. And the cost of a cap-and-trade on the poor is now being discovered.’

Well Repugs, You Got The House. Now What?

November 4, 2010 4 comments

For my conservative readers and Republican friends, if you came here today looking for some wailing and gnashing of teeth, I’m sorry to disappoint, but they will not be forthcoming. Am I a bit disheartened by yesterday’s election results? Sure, but more so, I’m curious. I’m curious what the next two years will bring. And I’m also glad that things did not go so badly as they might have for Democrats and the nation. Further, as to losing the House, I’d like to say to America “this is what you voted for, now watch the resultant disaster begin.”

At the very least, Tea Party crazies Angle, Paladino, O’Donnell and Miller lost (even though crazier Rand Paul won); the Democrats held onto the Senate and President Obama still has his big red “Veto” stamp. And for all their pandering to their conservative constituents, Blue Dog Democrats lost bigger than their progressive counterparts. Goodbye and good riddance.

House Republicans are now in the position to either put up or shut up. They no longer have the luxury of sitting back like petulant children and simply saying “No!” to everything that comes their way. (Would it serve them right to have Democrats do to them exactly that? Probably. Will it happen? Probably not.) They will actually have to attempt to do something. Already some are indicating that they will do something – they are planning to being investigations of President Obama. Hmmmm… that reminds me of a whole lot of tax dollars flushed down the toilet in the pursuit of President Clinton. That was a popular move and won the hearts of millions of Americans. Not learning from the past, they’re gearing up to do it again. Just like their failed economic policies. Who was it that said the definition of insanity is repeating the same actions over and over, but expecting different results?

I do, however, enjoy the relief of being able to sit back and watching the self-destruction of some of these wackos. Will the ones who aren’t wackos grow a pair and actually try to work with the Senate and the President? Many pundits are saying that the winners on Tuesday were elected with the mandate to not compromise. What do Republicans think governing is? I guess we will find out in the coming two years.

President Obama correctly pointed out that Republicans drove the car into the ditch. Well, we got to keep the car and the kids, Republicans got the House and the dogs.

$141million of FAIL.

LOL

Go back to Ebay – oh you cannot do that either, you failed there as well.

So much for the big Republican uprising across the USA. Despite all the Foreign money, Republicans could only claim about 60 seats in the House and they also failed to get the Senate.

That is the first time since the 1930′s that has seen an opposition flip the Control of the House but not the Senate at the same time.
